Rockstar Games has officially announced that Grand Theft Auto VI (GTA 6) will now release on May 26, 2026, postponing it from the previously anticipated 2025 launch. The delay is attributed to the studio’s commitment to delivering a polished and high-quality experience.

The second trailer, released on May 7, 2025, amassed approximately 112 million views in just 13 days, nearly matching the total views of the GTA V trailer over 13 years. Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick expressed confidence in the game’s potential, stating that Rockstar aims to create “the best thing anyone’s ever seen in entertainment.” He also emphasized that further delays are unlikely, citing Rockstar’s strong track record of meeting firm release dates once they are set.
The delay is projected to cost the gaming industry approximately $2.7 billion in 2025, impacting console and game sales, as well as investor confidence.
